S U N G A Z I N G
Sun gazing is a recent addition for me. I knew that our ancient ancestors worshiped the sun, and I knew depressed people reacted well to high does of light, and I also knew that I personally felt so happy after going to the beach or being outside, but what I knew nothing about was "sun gazing."
I stumbled across the idea when I was researching meditation, which is something that I have been practicing for years. My meditation sessions needed to be enhanced, so I went online to do a little research about awareness and enlightenment, and somehow landed on a website about sun gazing. A man by the name of HRM (Hira Ratan Manek) had reintroduced the idea to the U.S. from India. I kept researching further and found a surprising bit of information. I personally do not practice the HRM method, but I am grateful that I found his materials. Here is the idea:
Note: I am only sharing my experience of sun gazing. I am NOT suggesting, recommending or endorsing sun gazing.
The period of time within an hour after sunrise or an hour before sunset, find a nice piece of earth to stand on and gaze into the sun. Standing barefoot is most effective and on dirt or sand is best. Start with 10 seconds the first day; 20 the second day and so on - the HRM method recommends that you do this for 9 months, at which time you will have built up to 44 minutes of sun gazing. On the last day, when you have reached 44 minutes, you have completed your sungazing and never need to sungaze again. The method I use, I gaze for 10 second increments up to a 5 minute maximum, however, I can continue to gaze for a lifetime.
