M E D I T A T I O N

Meditation and Work-shopping are probably my two foundation activities. Everything else stems from these two sections of my routine. Together this takes only one hour, sometimes less.

Meditation: a state of concentrated attention on some object of thought or awareness. It usually involves turning the attention inward to a single point of reference. (source wikipedia)

For me, meditation is most effective first thing in the morning, before my day has too much movement. Wearing loose and comfortable clothing, I sit, usually facing east, on a flat pillow on the floor. I concentrate on my breathing and attempt to clear my mind of any thoughts. I set a timer in the kitchen for 20 minutes that alerts me when the time has lapsed, for I am not suppose to be concentrating on time. I allow my body to become very relaxed and if I catch myself thinking about something, I calmly release the thought. My personal meditation is about nothingness. Think about nothing.

Meditation is an ancient practice, however, the west has seemed to have forgotten or simply ignored the importance of this very simple and relaxing technique. Meditating creates more brain-power, less stress and anxiety, and people who meditate regularly are able to solve problems more quickly and effectively than those who do not. The reason I meditate is because I understand that this process allows me to connect with a universal consciousness that I would otherwise not have access to.
